Competition Law

LEX Law Firm has extensive experience handling any kind of competition law matters. The firm’s attorneys have been involved in most of the major competition cases brought in Iceland and regularly provide advice to both domestic and international clients in this field.

Expert Knowledge and Experience
At LEX law offices, experienced attorneys provide comprehensive guidance on any competition-related issue. LEX has represented numerous clients before the Icelandic Competition Authority (ICA), whether in merger cases, ICA market investigations, or matters concerning alleged violations of competition law. Our attorneys have prepared notifications for numerous mergers and bring significant experience in handling large-scale merger cases where settlement negotiations have led to conditional approvals. LEX has also pursued multiple matters in this field before the Competition Appeals Committee and in court.
LEX’s lawyers have extensive experience preparing and developing compliance programs for companies, ensuring their operations consistently adhere to competition laws and reducing legal risk. As part of implementing such programs, we regularly conduct training sessions for employees and management teams, outlining their responsibilities and obligations under competition law.
LEX has prepared numerous merger notifications and represented merger parties during the ICA's merger investigation, including writing objections, undergoing settlement negotiations and drafting settlement agreements with the ICA. We also represent clients before the ICA in connection with inquiries, statements of objections, and investigations, including investigative measures (dawn raids).
Furthermore, we handle cases before the Competition Appeals Committee, Icelandic courts, the EFTA Surveillance Authority, and the European Commission. In addition, we offer broad advisory services in competition law—including the drafting of legal opinions—and support our clients in all matters concerning competitive practices.
