Lára Herborg Ólafsdóttir
Lára Herborg– A Leading Expert in IT Law, Intellectual Property, and Data Protection
Lára is among the country´s foremost experts in information technology law, intellectual property law, and data protection. She also possesses extensive experience in procurement and construction law, competition law, and administrative law. Over the years, Lára has provided legal counsel to numerous companies, municipalities, and public institutions.
Her expertise includes negotiating and drafting agreements for the development, distribution, and acquisition of software systems, as well as contracts for technology development. Lára has led numerous large-scale legal audits of IT systems for both private companies and public entities. She has also guided organizations in ensuring regulatory compliance during the implementation of artificial intelligence solutions. Furthermore, Lára has in-depth knowledge of health technology and has assisted many companies operating in this field. In addition to her advisory work, she is an experienced litigator, representing clients in district courts.
Lára is a prolific author and speaker, having published numerous articles and delivered courses and lectures on legal issues related to cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data protection. Her audience has included both public authorities and private enterprises. Lára serves as an adjunct professor at Reykjavik University´s Faculty of Law, where she teaches courses on technology and IT law. She is also a member of the Legal Committee of the Icelandic Bar Association, a deputy board member of the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, and the academic editor of Fons Juris, Iceland´s leading legal publisher.
