New partners at LEX Law Offices

The attorneys Árni Freyr Sigurðsson, Fjölnir Ólafsson and Hjalti Geir Erlendsson joined the partnership of LEX Law Offices on 10 April, having all served as Senior Associates at the firm since 2023.

Árni Freyr Sigurðsson is a licensed attorney authorized to practice before the district court with extensive knowledge and experience in advising and resolving disputes, particularly in the fields of corporate law, contract and obligations law, mergers and acquisitions, corporate financing, fund regulation and securities law. Árni holds a masters degree in law from the University of Iceland and serves as a part-time lecturer at Reykjavík University, teaching mergers and acquisitions. Árni Freyr has been with LEX since 2018.

Fjölnir Ólafsson is a licensed attorney admitted to practice before the Icelandic District Courts and the Court of Appeal (Landsréttur). He joined LEX as an associate in 2018 after graduating from the University of Iceland. Fjölnir focuses on litigation and dispute resolution across a broad range of areas, including contract law, competition law, administrative law, and construction and procurement law. In 2020, Fjölnir served as a judicial law clerk at the Court of Appeal, and he currently teaches civil and criminal procedural law as a part-time lecturer at the University of Iceland.

Hjalti Geir Erlendsson is a district court attorney with a law degree from the University of Iceland and an LL.M. degree from Columbia University in New York. He has extensive experience in advising on and resolving disputes in the fields of administrative law, property law, energy law, natural resources law, and environmental law, and has been involved in major cases related to infrastructure development, energy production, and resource utilization. He also possesses comprehensive knowledge of European and EEA law, constitutional law, and human rights. Hjalti Geir previously worked at the EFTA Secretariat in Brussels and for the Parliamentary Ombudsman in Iceland. He teaches in the certification program for real estate and ship brokers at the University of Iceland’s Continuing Education program and serves on the board of Varðberg, an association for Western cooperation and international affairs.
