Birgir Már Björnsson
Birgir Már Björnsson is a Surpeme Court Attorney authorized to practice before the District Court, Court of Appeal, and Supreme Court of Iceland. Birgir earned his BA in Law from the University of Iceland in 2007 and Masters degree (Mag.jur.) from the same institution in 2009.
Following his graduation, Birgir worked as an attorney at Acta Law Firm and later at Megin Law Firm until 2011, when he joined LEX Law Offices, where he has worked continuously since.
At LEX, Birgir has focused primarily on insolvency and bankruptcy law, estate law, corporate law, property law, family law, inheritance law, and copyright law, in addition to providing comprehensive legal advice to both companies and individuals. Birgir has extensive experience assisting foreign clients with real estate transactions in Iceland, including property acquisition, due diligence, and navigating regulatory requirements, making him a trusted advisor for international investors and businesses.
Birgir is an experienced litigator with extensive expertise in managing complex court- and arbirtration proceedings. Notably, he has argued precedent-setting cases in corporate and tax law before the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Iceland, resulting in landmark rulings.
In addition to his legal practice, Birgir has served as a lecturer and later adjunkt at the law faculties of the University of Iceland and Reykjavík University, further contributing to the legal profession through education and mentorship. Birgir also regularly writes articles on various legal topics, sharing his insights and expertise with the legal community and the public.
