Gardar Valdimarsson joins LEX
29. March, 2017Garðar Valdimarsson has joined LEX and will provide tax advice to LEX customers. Mr. Valdimarsson is one of Iceland’s leading tax experts. He has worked in the field of tax since his graduation in accounting and law from the University of Iceland and post-graduation study in tax law at the University of Copenhagen in 1976.
He was appointed Director of the Directorate of Tax investigations in Iceland in 1976 and in 1986 the Director of Internal Revenue, in addition to being chairman of the Double Taxation Committee between 1995 and 1998. He was admitted as a Supreme Court Attorney in 1999 and practiced law until 2008 when he became a partner at Deloitte in Iceland.
Mr. Valdimarsson served in committees and working groups for the collection of withholding tax and value added tax in Iceland. Furthermore he served as a member of the Financial Supervisory Board’s decision making committee while it was active.
For a while, Garðar taught tax law at the University of Iceland and has written number of articles in the field of tax law.
